The Stern Center for Language and Learning is a nonprofit educational center dedicated to helping children and adults reach their full potential. Through high-quality direct service, professional development and research, we are committed to enriching the lives of learners because all great minds don't think alike!
A world where, through scientific understanding of learning differences and corresponding teaching strategies, learners of all ages and backgrounds will experience personal accomplishment and self-esteem...a world where education, as a whole, will progress to even higher levels of success.
Since 1983, we have worked with learners to help them reach their academic, social and professional goals. We provide research-based learning evaluations and customized instruction for all students, including those with learning disabilities, dyslexia, language disorders, social learning challenges, autism, attention deficit disorders and learning differences. We design and deliver customized professional learning programs and system development using current research and trends in education. Through the Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence, we work with schools and individual educators in early literacy, oral language, reading, written language, social cognition, executive functioning and math.
The Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence (CKHIE) within the Stern Center for Language and Learning is a model of best instructional practices for educators. It supports access to professional learning for teachers and instructional services for students. Cynthia K. Hoehl, a former teacher, established the CKHIE as part of her vision for helping all children learn.
Stern Center’s highly-qualified group of instructors can collaborate with your school team to provide services for one or multiple students at a reduced cost. For students who will benefit from explicit instruction (4 or more hours per week) and are in need of quality services, we encourage you to contact us.
In addition, schools and individual educators are invited to submit proposals for professional learning, which may be eligible to receive underwriting grants. Both opportunities are subject to continued availability of funds. To learn more, check out School Partnerships and Professional Learning.
