A Model for Managing Anxiety and Improving Self Regulation

|Course Description||This module will focus on managing anxiety and improving self-regulation using techniques for increasing self-awareness and modifying one’s own behaviors. The Incredible 5-Point Scale (Dunn-Buron & Curtis) is demonstrated as a springboard for developing individualized plans for relaxation, organization and emotional attunement.
This 6-hour workshop is part of a two-part Social Cognition Learning Module that takes an in-depth look at current specific strategies and activities designed to improve interpersonal communication and self-management skills. These workshops are designed to provide additional concentrated exploration of an individual methodology associated with social and emotional learning. The other workshop in the module is Visual Methods for Improving Social Understanding, which is taking place on January 11, 2018.

Julie Erdelyi, M.A., Autism Specialist
Program Manager for Communication Services & Professional Learning
Julie provides consultation and instruction. She has a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Vermont and a Master’s degree in special education – developmental disabilities from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has extensive experience as a Special Educator and Autism Specialist designing and implementing academic instruction, proactive behavior intervention plans, and social thinking instruction for elementary school students who have Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has presented at local and national conferences and was published in the Autism Asperger’s Digest Magazine.
