BUILDING BLOCKS offers a series of play-based, developmentally appropriate activities that you can use with young children.  Through shared book reading, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, and the speech to print connection, you can help make a difference to a child’s future reading success.

Karen Rodgers, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist, Instructor, Professional Learning Provider

Karen Rodgers, M.A., CCC-SLP, provides speech and language therapy for children of all ages who present with autism spectrum disorder, apraxia, and various other neurological diagnoses. In addition to being a BUILDING BLOCKS FOR LITERACY® instructor, Karen provides workshops for teachers, early childcare providers and parents targeting literacy, language and social skills as well as oral/motor, speech and feeding skills for early childhood development.

Prior to joining the Stern Center, Karen worked in private practice delivering early intervention and other services in a variety of settings, including schools and hospitals. Her experience includes implementation of programs for feeding, literacy and social communication. In addition, she implemented the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and the Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS) for medical daycare providers. Karen also implemented The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool.

Karen earned a Master of Arts degree from Temple University and was awarded a Certificate of Distinction in Communication Sciences for completion of quality research projects focusing on Early Childhood Development and Communication Skills.
