The
Stern Center for Language and Learning is dedicated to literacy for all.
We respect that many people who struggle with reading, writing and mathematics
do not learn the same way as those who easily achieve literacy. They may
be challenged by
learning disabilities such as dyslexia, by attention deficit disorders, or
by differences in the way they learn best. We are committed to helping people
of all ages identify their learning strengths and challenges and to finding
solutions that
allow all great minds to learn.
"Language
is the link to literacy that enriches the lives of learners."
-Stern Center President, Blanche Podhajski, Ph.D.
What
We Do...
Evaluate
and teach more than 900 students annually in all areas of learning, including
reading, writing, spelling, math, and study skills.
Instruct
and design programs for more than 1,500 educators each year to share information
about different kinds of learners and the teaching strategies most successful
for them.
Conduct
research about how people learn and the most effective ways to teach them.
