Wilson Language Training Programs: Getting Literacy Results for Your Schools and Your Students
Barbara A. Wilson
Director of Wilson Language Training and co-founder of the Wilson Learning Center for children and adults with language learning disabilities
Barbara Wilson will discuss two multitiered models from Wilson: one for all students in K-3 settings and one for students beyond Grade 3 (including adults) with low level literacy skills. She will highlight positive student outcomes that have resulted from commitment to quality, sustainability, and fidelity to Wilson program implementation. Barbara will also outline key recommendations for school-based leaders who would like to achieve these same impressive results for their schools.
Barbara's experience includes special education public school teacher and reading therapist in the Language Disorders Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Barbara has served on several national and educational organizations and is a founding fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Barbara was invited to the White House to report on literacy instruction in middle and high schools to the President's Domestic Policy Advisor on Education.
Barbara is also chairperson of the Advisory Council for the Language and Literacy graduate program at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.
