Scholarship & Financial Assistance

Through the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations, the Stern Center can offer a limited number of scholarships to those seeking financial assistance. Scholarships help reduce instructional fees related to direct services.

These awards are made at the sole discretion of the Stern Center Scholarship Committee based on a combination of educational and financial need. Scholarships are available to families with an adjusted gross household income less than $125,000. Eligible families could receive a 20-70% reduction.

Types of Scholarships offered

Basic Scholarship and Named Scholarship

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please inquire about an application during your initial interview.

To request an application, please complete our form or call 802-878-2332 to have an application mailed to you.

Payment Plan

A payment plan may be available to spread the remaining cost of services over several months.

Additional Options

There are other sources that may assist with the financing of Stern Center Services. These include your school or school district, employer, Vocational Rehabilitation, VSAC, the Casey Family Foundation, health insurance provider, and others. Please note, we are not an insurance provider and do not bill insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a scholarship?

If you are interested in a scholarship, please request a scholarship application when inquiring about direct services. If you have any questions about how to complete the form, please call one of our knowledgeable staff at 802-878-2332.

Please submit your scholarship application one week before a scheduled committee meeting. Meetings are typically scheduled on the first Tuesday of each month, but please call to confirm. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

After I submit a scholarship application, what happens next?

The Stern Center Scholarship Committee will review submitted applications, which happens once per month. After the meeting, you will be notified of their decision within a few days. Awards will be applied directly to your service.

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, we are not an insurance provider and do not bill insurance. Clients are sometimes successful in obtaining reimbursement for our services from their insurance, but all such reimbursement must be arranged directly between the client and their insurance carrier.

The client is expected to pay us in full at the time of service regardless of any arrangement they have made with their insurance.

I'm not ashamed that I learn differently. Just as long as I learn it and that my learning path suits me, it's really okay.
