Speech and Language
The Stern Center provides assessments and instruction to address the needs of students who may be experiencing speech and language difficulties.
Language needs include:
- Difficulties understanding and using words
- Assembling words into sentences with meaning
- Communicating with others
Speech needs include:
- Articulation, the formation of basic speech sounds
- The mechanics of voice, how we use various vocal muscles and breathing to produce sounds
- Fluency, the rate and rhythm of speech
