Individualized Instruction

The Stern Center's instructional program focuses on helping students develop literacy skills, achieve academic success, and reach full potential. We combine student evaluation results with informal assessment data to develop individualized instruction programs.   Programs are available for children and adults.

Instruction is available in such areas as the following:

boy writing

  • "Cracking the Code" of Reading
  • Reading for Meaning
  • Spelling
  • Writing Mechanics and Grammar
  • Writing Composition
  • Math Operations
  • Math Problem Solving
  • Study Skills
  • Organizational Skills
  • Speech and Language
  • Social Thinking

School year and summer instructional programs are available to both children and adults.  Based on individual needs, schedules, and program requirements most students come for one to two hours of instruction per week during the school year.  During the summer, instructional programs are more intensive, usually two to four hours per week.  Upon special request, Stern Center staff are available to provide instructional services on-site within schools or at work sites.

The cost of instruction also includes parent/student conferences, classroom teacher contact through email and telephone, written progress reports, and opportunities for observation by parents and teachers.  Financial assistance is available.
