Types of Learning Evaluations
Comprehensive Learning Evaluations
Comprehensive evaluations assess thinking skills, academic achievement, attention/executive function, and language. Learning evaluations are essential in planning an effective instructional program, monitoring progress, and diagnosing differences in learning.
Speech and Language Evaluations
Speech and Language evaluations focus on oral language abilities including the understanding and usage of language. Analyses of vocabulary, sentence structure, conversation, and speech sound production provide knowledge about an individual's communication abilities.
Psychological Evaluations
Psychological evaluations assess emotional and social functioning. Results help answer questions as to whether attention, self-esteem, anxiety, and/or impulse control may be affecting learning or quality of life.
Neuropsychological Evaluations
Neuropsychological evaluations provide a global assessment of brain function related to specific attention, language, motor, social, and thinking skills. Results help refine and increase the robustness of behavioral, educational, and social programs.
Social Thinking® Evaluations
For many students, social relationships are very challenging. Some students have difficulty initiating social relationships and experience anxiety. Others misinterpret intentions of those around them.
An evaluation of a student's social thinking provides parents and school teams with specific information important to developing educational programming. Gathering detailed information about social interaction patterns, including strengths and weaknesses, helps students improve their social thinking and self-esteem. Assessment of joint attention, cooperation, play skills, perspective-taking, executive functioning, and meta-cognition (thinking about thinking) occurs across different contexts, e.g., home and school. Results and recommendations are provided through a written report.
Social Thinking® Evaluations include:
- Student interviews
- Student history
- Executive Functioning tasks
- Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS)
- Administration of language testing
- Informal Questionnaires
