Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence
The Stern Center for Language and Learning received a $1 Million contribution from the Hoehl Family Foundation to establish the Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence. This gift, the largest single donation ever given to the Stern Center, makes learning opportunities accessible to more students and educators than ever before.
The Cynthia K. Hoehl Institute for Excellence showcases the Stern Center's implementation of research-based best practices through its instruction and professional learning programs. It has three important elements to:
- Reduce fees for instruction to students of middle income families
- Grant awards to schools and educators to help underwrite professional learning
- Establish an endowment to ensure the Institute’s perpetuity
In part, eligible families, those with combined household incomes of less than $125,000, benefit from fees for instruction that are reduced by 20%. Schools and individual educators are invited to submit proposals for professional learning, which may be eligible to receive underwriting grants of from 20% to 60%.
