Pathways to Scholarship
Did you know?
The Stern Center has a Scholarship Fund to help those with both financial and educational need to be able to afford services.
There are other sources that may assist with the financing of Stern Center Services. These include your health insurance provider, employer, Vocational Rehabilitation, Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), the Casey Family Foundation, and others.
A payment plan may be available to spread the remaining cost of services over several months.
What is the scholarship application process?
If you are interested in a scholarship, please download, complete, and return an application available on this site, or call 802-878-2332 and our receptionist will send you a scholarship application.
If you have questions about the application, please call us and a staff member will be happy to help you complete the form, either on the phone or in person.
Awards are based on a combination of financial need, as determined by household income and number of members in the household, as well as educational need, as determined by Stern Center Management.
The Stern Center Scholarship Committee meets once each month to review applications and award scholarships. In order to review an application, it must be received one week before each scheduled Committee meeting. This date will be given to you when you inquire. Incomplete applications may not be considered.
We will let you know within a few days of the meeting of the Committee's decision.
You may appeal the decision if you feel there are other circumstances that merit consideration for further assistance. This appeal must be in writing, to the attention of the Scholarship Committee, and will be reviewed at the next Scholarship Meeting.
Awards will be applied directly to service billings by the Business Office. Awards for instruction are prorated and applied each time instruction is billed.
How Much Does the Stern Center Award in Scholarship support?
Awards are between 10% and 75% of the cost of services and are always subject to availability of funds.
Last year awards for evaluations totaled $134,000.
