Summer Learning Opportunities

The Stern Center provides high-quality summer learning experiences for children, teens, and adults.

Academic Instruction/Tutoring

With summer just around the corner, help prepare your child or adolescent for the upcoming school year by scheduling time to focus on their academics, write his or her college admission essay, or learn time management strategies.

We can provide support in the following areas:

  • Basic Reading Skills
  • Reading Fluency and Comprehension
  • Spelling
  • Writing Mechanics and Grammar
  • Writing Composition
  • Math Operations
  • Math Problem Solving
  • Executive Function
  • Credit Recovery Support
  • SAT/ACT Prep
  • College Preparedness
  • College Admission Essay Writing

Program Details

  • Instruction is available Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • We recommend a minimum of two (1-hour) sessions per week (Minimum of six hours)
  • Customized programming may be available upon request, with a minimum six-hour commitment
  • Highly trained and qualified teachers
  • Available June 26 – August 7, 2017

Social Learning & Speech and Language Therapy Services

Camp Compass and Team Building Summer Institute

Some children and adolescents find it challenging to navigate their way in social situations. They need direct teaching, coaching, and practice to learn the fundamental building blocks of social success.

Activities designed to teach the following:

  • Initiating communication
  • Reciprocal interactions
  • Understanding the thoughts and feelings of others
  • Communication repair strategies
  • Self-regulation skills
  • Being a positive team player
  • Having fun with peers

Program Details

  • Four half-day, activity-based experience to promote social learning
  • Approaches based on the Michelle Garcia Winner Social Thinking┬« and ILAUGH Model
  • Learning is facilitated through hands-on, theme-based, dynamic experiences and activities to promote social success
  • Morning and Afternoon sessions available
  • Available June 26-29 or July 3-7 (sessions will not be held on July 4th)
