Get ready and feel prepared for the upcoming March, May, or June 2018 SAT with this special, end of the year deal. As your local nonprofit organization, we believe in finding the strategies and techniques to help your teen improve his or her SAT score.
Our instructors will provide a comprehensive preparation course for standardized tests that goes beyond practice tests.
Preparing in advance with a Stern Center tutor will help your teen feel confident and more comfortable with the SAT, therefore allowing him or her to feel prepared on the day of the test.
Through years of providing SAT prep, we have discovered that a minimum of six sessions provides an adequate amount of time for learners to feel like they can effectively implement the skills and strategies that lead to success on the SAT. However, in some cases parents pursue additional time by signing up for individualized instruction.
We offer two types of SAT prep courses, which are described in further detail below.
The instructional professionals at the Stern Center will work with your teen to determine how best to prepare for the test based on his or her individual needs.
Through specific strategy development and application of these skills, we can assist in preparing for the upcoming test by:
Most students who enroll in one-to-one SAT Prep instruction register for 12 (1-hour) sessions, twice per week, for six weeks.
We strongly encourage students to complete additional practice work specific to their individual preparation needs as assigned by their tutor.
Individual sessions are $89/hour.
Small group instruction is appropriate for students new to standardized testing, or those wishing to improve their test-taking strategies for a second or third test date.
In these groups, your teen will become familiar with the test and learn specific strategies and skills necessary to complete the timed test.
Three math specific sessions and three language arts specific sessions will be offered. Each session is taught by an instructor who specializes in math or reading/writing.
Strategy topics will include:
Areas of focus:
Review and practice of certain concepts is included in these sessions and error analysis is conducted throughout each section.
Instructors are not able to teach new material or entire content areas within the groups. Should students determine their needs are more specific and require individualized attention, changes can be addressed and accommodated with our intake scheduler.
We request that students purchase, for an additional cost, the following book prior to their first session. Upon registration, you can decide to have the Stern Center order the book for you. ($20)

Group Two (test dates May 5, 2018 or June 2, 2018)
